“US New Investigation on Canadian Steel Imports”
Washington: United States confirms new investigation on Canadian steel imports. The Department of Commerce of United States confirms, they have started new investigations into whether Canada, China and Mexico manufactured steel products are being sold in the country for less than its actual fair value.
The United States Department of Commerce said, they are also going to investigate, whether the Steel manufacturer or producers from these three countries which includes Canada, China and Mexico are receiving unfair subsidies as part of countervailing duty investigation or not. The countervailing duty and anti-dumping investigations come as Canada wants to United States remove steel and aluminum tax or duty on Canadian Steel Products
The United States Commerce Department said, the investigations into fabricated structural steel products were started based on petitions from the American Institute of Steel Construction.
Marc Garneau (Transport Minister) said that it would be a challenge for Canada to approve the North America new free trade agreement with the same tariff with no change.
