In Canada, a person was infected for the first time with the H1N2 swine flu virus, a rare form of swine flu. The case occurred in the western province of Alberta, according to the Canadian health authorities. health experts state that via contact with infected pigs, the H1N2 virus is transmitted.
The patient had mild flu-like symptoms and recovered quickly from the disease, the authorities said. Globally, just 27 infections of the H1N2 virus, have been reported, since the years 2005. More common are swine flu virus H1N1 infections.
There is currently “no increased risk” for the population, declared the local authorities. There is no evidence that the swine flu virus, a subtype of the influenza A virus, has spread.
US researchers only discovered a few weeks ago, that another swine flu virus, namely the swine Coronavirus Sars-CoV, can also affect humans. The knowledge came from scientists from the University of North Carolina.
The symptoms of the disease in humans are mild and comparable to other seasonal subtypes. Presently among humans, the only known influenza A virus subtypes are H1N1, H1N2 and H3N2.
It appears as though COVID 19 has the capability of switching between diverse species such as pigs, bats and various other mammals. Plus, the pig Coronavirus has the capability of being able to spread to human beings.
