According to KCNA, a spokesperson from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said the country respects Iran’s decision to select a new leader.
Iran recently appointed Mojtaba Khamenei after the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who had led Iran for many years. Reports say he was killed during a US-Israel attack at the start of the conflict on February 28.
The spokesperson said North Korea respects the right of the Iranian people to choose their own Supreme Leader.
Criticism of the United States and Israel
North Korea also criticized the United States and Israel for their military attack on Iran.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the attack was illegal and harmful to peace in the region. According to Pyongyang, such actions increase global instability.
North Korea also said the attack violated Iran’s political system and territorial integrity. The spokesperson added that such actions should be condemned by the international community.
Earlier, North Korea had also described the attacks in the Middle East as “gangster-like conduct.”
Kim Jong Un Oversees Missile Test
While making these statements, North Korea also carried out another missile test.
According to KCNA, the country’s leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the launch of strategic cruise missiles. The missiles were fired from the navy’s newest destroyer, the Choe Hyon destroyer.
This was the second missile test from the destroyer in recent days.
During the event, Kim said North Korea must continue building a strong and reliable nuclear deterrent.
