
Monday, 20 September 2021, 2 students were injured in a shooting incident at a high school in the United States of Virgina. A 17-year-old boy and 17-year girl are victim in this incident, where boy was shot on the face and girl were injured on her leg, Newport news police Chief Steve Drew confirmed it in news conference. Both the victims were hospitalized immediately. Injuries to both victims were not life threatening, officials confirmed.
One person, a male juvenile is in police custody” Newport News Police Department said in a statement post incident at heritage high school. Official authority said, both victim & suspect knew each other but not provided details.
Almost one year later, students come back to their classrooms, reviving the fear of on-campus shootings, with multiple small-scale incidents reported in recent weeks. George Parker, superintendent of Newport News Public Schools, said the high school does random searches for guns. After incident, students from school were evacuated from their classrooms to tennis courts.
“No superintendent, no teacher or principal would want to ever go through this situation,” Mr. Parker (superintendent of Newport News Public Schools) said. “Just seeing the faces of our students and how afraid they were under these circumstances, and out staff, who are traumatized. … No one would want to through these circumstances.”
