Serious Climatic Changes predicted for America. On Friday, 13 federal agencies presented a report about forthcoming climatic changes that could present doom for America, if America did not do anything to stop global warming. Surprisingly, though the White House made the report public, it is totally at odds with the steps being taken by US President Donald Trump, with regards to environmental deregulation. In the words of Rachel Connolly, Director of STEM Education at WGBH & PBS LearningMedia, “No area of the country will be untouched. More people will die as heat waves become more common and a hotter climate will also lead to more outbreaks of disease. Two areas of impact particularly stand out, trade and agriculture.”
Trump’s Role In Global Warming
US President Donald Trump seems to be playing a major role in allowing more of the planet warmup to take place with his measures being adopted for power plant smokestacks and vehicle tailpipes. US President Donald Trump has also said that he will pull America out from the Paris Agreement. According to the Paris Agreement, the cutting of carbon emission was agreed upon by every country in the world.
According to Prince Charles, “On an increasingly crowded planet, humanity faces many threats – but none is greater than climate change. It magnifies every hazard and tension of our existence.”
Will The Report Affect The Trump Administration?
This report could prove to be a very lethal tool for the opponents of US President Donald Trump. Woods Hole Research Center President, Philip B. Duffy said, “There is a bizarre contrast between this report, which is being released by this administration, and this administration’s own policies.”
Princeton professor of international affairs and geosciences, Michael Oppenheimer said, “This report will weaken the Trump administration’s legal case for undoing climate change regulations and it strengthens the hands of those who go to court to fight them.”
The Effects Of Climate Changes In America
The 1656 page assessment that was released by the 13 federal agencies, clearly told of the devastating effects that changes in climatic conditions could have on America, bringing about changes in the environment, health, economy and causing the infrastructure to crumble in the South, causing crop failures to take place in the Midwest and bringing about record wildfires in California.
A great deal of the supply chain of America is overseas. As such, it is not just America that will be affected as a result of the climatic changes in America. Fact is, almost every industry all over the globe, will be hit, because of climatic changes in the USA. “We need every person on Earth to acknowledge that climate change is real and encourage each other and our leaders to address the challenge.” – Richard Branson
What Does This Spell For America?
According to the report released, as a result of the impending climatic changes in America, this would mean that the fire season could quite likely even spread as far as the Southeast, the yield of agriculture could drop drastically, US supply chains and exports are very likely to be disrupted. Co-author of the report and professor at University of Arizona, Diana Liverman says, “Climate change is another risk to the strength of the U.S. trade position, and the U.S. ability to export. It can affect U.S. products, and as it drives poverty abroad we can lose consumer markets.”
This report is the 2nd volume that has been released by the National Climate Assessment. By law, it is mandatory for the federal government, to produce such a report, once every 4 years. Last year, the White House released the 1st volume of the report. In the words of the richest man on the planet, Bill Gates, “Climate change is a terrible problem, and it absolutely needs to be solved. It deserves to be a huge priority.”
