Russia and China have strongly criticized the recent attacks carried out by the United States and Israel on Iran. Both countries said the strikes could make the situation in the Middle East more dangerous and have asked for an immediate stop to military action.
Officials from Moscow and Beijing said problems in the region should be solved through talks and diplomacy, not through war.
China Urges End to Military Strikes
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Tuesday about the situation.
According to China’s Foreign Ministry, Wang said the attacks happened at a time when talks between the United States and Iran were making progress. These discussions were also addressing some of Israel’s security concerns.
However, Wang said the military strikes have now interrupted that diplomatic progress.
China clearly said it does not support military attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. Wang also warned that using force cannot solve the problem and may create more serious issues in the future.
He called for an immediate stop to military operations to prevent the conflict from becoming bigger and harder to control.
During the call, Israel also agreed to China’s request to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions located in Iran.
China has also been speaking with other countries about the growing tension. Wang held talks with officials from Omanand France as part of efforts to reduce the crisis.
Russia Warns of Nuclear Risk
Russia also criticized the attacks. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the war could lead to a serious nuclear risk in the region.
Lavrov said the attacks could push some groups in Iran to support building nuclear weapons. According to him, countries may feel safer if they have nuclear weapons because powerful nations usually avoid attacking them.
He warned that other countries in the Middle East might also try to develop nuclear weapons if the situation continues. This could start a dangerous nuclear arms race in the region.
Lavrov also said Russia has not seen any clear evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.
Russia Calls for Diplomatic Solution
Lavrov spoke with Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and said Russia is ready to support diplomatic efforts to solve the conflict.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry earlier described the US and Israeli attacks as an “unprovoked act of armed aggression” against a sovereign country.
The ministry warned that the conflict could lead to a humanitarian and economic crisis in the region. It also said the situation could become very dangerous if the fighting continues.
Russian officials also accused the United States and Israel of hiding their real intentions while holding talks with Iran.
Tensions Continue to Rise
The United States and Israel began their first strikes on Iran on Saturday. Since then, tensions in the Middle East have increased.
Israel is widely believed to be the only country in the region with nuclear weapons, although it has never officially confirmed this.
Russia warned that the conflict could lead to unpredictable results and more violence in the region.
At the same time, Russia itself has faced criticism from Western countries for launching a large-scale invasion of Ukraineseveral years ago, a war that is still continuing.
Calls for Peace Talks
Despite rising tensions, both Russia and China continue to call for dialogue and diplomacy. They believe talks are the best way to solve the crisis and prevent a larger conflict in the Middle East.
For now, the world is closely watching how the situation develops as global leaders call for calm and a peaceful solution.
