
The long three-day vacation in Ontario will not have been easy for the hundreds of firefighters trying to overcome the province’s massive wildfires.
As of Monday night, there were 122 fires in Ontario, 78 in the northwest and 44 in the northeastern part of the province.
Eighteen including the famous Parry Sound 33 , which now covers 113 square kilometers, is still uncontrolled in the northeastern part of the province, while for the northwestern part this number reaches seven forest fires
Despite about ten millimeters of rain falling on Monday, the authorities indicate that the drought remains extreme and evacuation notices for some communities and alerts for others, including the municipality of Rivière des Français are maintained.
In the past five days, lightning has hit Ontario more than 32,000 times.
