Xi Jinping Congratulates Kim Jong Un After Re-Appointment in North Korea

Kim Jong Un has been re-appointed as general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea during the Ninth Party Congress in Pyongyang.

The decision was expected. Kim has led the country since 2011, after the death of his father, Kim Jong Il. The Kim family has ruled North Korea for more than 70 years.

The party congress is the biggest political meeting in the country. It is usually held once every five years. Around 5,000 party members attended this year’s event.

Focus on Nuclear and Military Strength

State media said that under Kim’s leadership, North Korea has greatly improved its military power. It said the country has strengthened its nuclear forces.

Even with international sanctions, North Korea has continued to test missiles and develop nuclear weapons. Before the congress started, the country showed new rocket launchers that it says can carry nuclear weapons.

However, because North Korea is very secretive, it is hard for outside experts to know how strong its military really is.

Kim is expected to share plans for the next stage of the country’s weapons program during the congress.

Economic Promises

In his speech, Kim also spoke about improving the economy and raising the living standards of the people. He said these are important and urgent tasks.

North Korea has faced economic problems for many years. Sanctions and limited trade have hurt the country’s growth. Many experts say the government now faces the challenge of improving the economy while continuing military development.

The congress also made changes in the party leadership. More than half of the top 39 members were replaced. This shows that Kim is reshaping his inner circle.

Xi Jinping Sends Congratulations

After the announcement, Xi Jinping sent a message congratulating Kim. Xi is the general secretary of the Communist Party of China.

Xi said Kim’s re-election shows the trust and support of the North Korean party and people. He called the congress an important event at a key time for the country’s future.

Xi also said he hopes North Korea will continue to move forward under Kim’s leadership.

Strong China–North Korea Relationship

China and North Korea have long been close partners. China is North Korea’s biggest trade partner and provides important support.

Xi said it is China’s steady policy to protect and strengthen relations with North Korea. He also said he is ready to work with Kim to improve cooperation and support peace and stability in the region.

In recent years, Xi and Kim have met several times to guide relations between the two countries.

Attention on Kim’s Daughter

There is also growing attention on Kim’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae. South Korea’s spy agency has said she may be preparing for a future leadership role.

She is believed to be around 13 years old and has appeared at several public events with her father. Many observers are watching to see if she appears at the party congress.

What This Means

Kim’s re-appointment shows that his control over North Korea remains strong. At the same time, China’s quick congratulations show that ties between the two countries remain close.

The Ninth Party Congress is expected to shape North Korea’s future plans, including its military goals, economic plans, and foreign relations.

The world will continue to watch closely as new announcements are made in the coming days.
