US President Donald Trump told leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) that Iran was “about to surrender” during a virtual meeting. However, just 24 hours later, Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei said his country would continue the fight and seek revenge.
The two statements show that the war situation is still uncertain and could become more serious in the coming days.
Trump Praises Military Operation
During the meeting with G7 leaders, Trump spoke about the results of a US military operation called Operation Epic Fury. He said the operation had removed a major threat and told other leaders that he had “got rid of a cancer that was threatening us all.”
Trump also claimed that Iran may not be able to officially announce surrender because its leadership structure has been badly damaged.
According to the report, Trump said, “Nobody knows who is the leader.”
G7 Leaders Urge Quick End to War
Leaders of the G7 countries reportedly asked Trump to end the war as soon as possible. They said the situation around the Strait of Hormuz is very important and must be secured quickly.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key shipping route for global oil supply. Any attack or blockade in this area can affect oil prices and the global economy.
Trump said the situation in the region was improving and that commercial ships would soon be able to move normally again.
Tanker Attack Raises Tensions
However, the same night after the meeting, explosive boats linked to Iran attacked two fuel tankers in waters near Iraq.
Both ships caught fire, and one crew member was killed in the attack.
The incident increased fears that the conflict could grow and continue to threaten ships in the region.
Iran’s New Leader Promises Revenge
Only a day after Trump’s statement, Iran’s new leader Mojtaba Khamenei made his first public speech.
In the message shown on state television, he said Iran would not step back and would take revenge for those killed in the recent strikes.
“We will not forget the blood of the martyrs,” he said. “Every citizen killed by the enemy is a reason for revenge.”
He also warned that Iran would keep using pressure on the Strait of Hormuz as a way to respond to the United States and its allies.
Trump Criticizes Iran’s New Leader
Trump has also criticized Mojtaba Khamenei since he became the new leader. He called him a “lightweight” and said he would not be acceptable to the United States.
Trump warned that if Iran continues the same policies under the new leader, it could lead to another war in the future.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he was “not happy” with Iran’s choice of leader and said he did not believe Iran could live peacefully under him.
Hardline Leadership in Iran
Mojtaba Khamenei took power after his father, Ali Khamenei, who led Iran for many years.
Experts say his rise shows that hardline leaders now have stronger control in Iran’s government. This could mean the country will continue its tough position against the United States and Israel.
War Situation Still Unclear
Although Trump believes Iran is close to surrender, recent events suggest the conflict is still active.
The tanker attacks, threats to close the Strait of Hormuz, and strong statements from Iran’s new leadership show that tensions remain high.
Many world leaders are worried that if the situation continues, it could affect global oil supply and increase economic problems around the world.
