Tensions in the Middle East increased on Sunday after Iran said it would continue to pursue and kill Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The threat came as rumours about Netanyahu’s possible assassination spread on social media.
At the same time, Iran also claimed that it carried out missile and drone strikes on several United States military bases in the region.
Netanyahu’s Office Rejects Assassination Claims
Rumours about Netanyahu’s death started after a video was shared on his social media account on X. In the video, he was speaking at a press conference about the ongoing conflict between Israel, Iran, and the United States.
Some people online claimed they noticed what looked like six fingers on one of his hands when he raised it briefly. Because of this, some users suggested the video might have been created or edited using artificial intelligence.
These claims quickly spread online and many people began asking where Netanyahu was.
However, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office rejected the rumours and said the reports were false.
Officials said, “These are fake news; the Prime Minister is fine.”
Iran Claims Attacks on US Military Bases
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it carried out attacks on three US military bases in the region.
According to reports, the targeted bases include:
- Al-Harir Air Base in Erbil, Iraq
- Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait
- Camp Arifjan base in Kuwait
Iran said the attacks were done using missiles and drones. The IRGC called the operation the 52nd wave of “Operation True Promise 4.”
Iran said the strikes were a response to recent attacks on Iranian sites.
Explosions Reported in Gulf Region
As the conflict continues, reports of explosions and drone activity have come from different parts of the Gulf region.
Explosions were reported in Dubai, although the exact cause was not immediately known.
Drone attacks were also reported near Kuwait International Airport and at an oil refinery in northern Iraq. These incidents have increased fears that the conflict could spread to more countries in the region.
Missile Strike Injures Two in Israel
Missile attacks targeting Israel have also continued.
Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 reported that two people suffered minor injuries in the city of Holon after a ballistic missile strike on Sunday.
Emergency services quickly reached the area and treated the injured people.
Conflict Grew After US-Israel Strikes on Iran
The current conflict started to grow after the United States and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran on February 28.
Reports say the attacks killed more than 1,300 people in Iran, including the country’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
After that, Iran began launching attacks on Israeli targets and US military bases in the region.
Fear of Wider War in the Middle East
With missile strikes, drone attacks, and military threats increasing, many experts fear the conflict could grow into a larger regional war.
Airlines have already started changing flight routes in the region, and there are concerns about possible disruptions to energy supplies and global markets.
The situation in the Middle East remains tense as both sides continue their military actions.
