The driver of the vehicle hit the child as he turned around in Pinery Provincial Park, northeast of Sarnia.
The Ontario Provincial Police ( OPP ) explains that the accident occurred around 5:30 pm Saturday and that the child died of his injuries at the hospital.
The authorities report that the girl and the driver of the van, a 39-year-old man, both come from East York, Toronto, but do not say whether they are related.
